ABEOKUTA – As Ogun State marks the golden jubilee of its creation, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has been spotlighted as a key contributor to the State’s human capital development, with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, affirming that the University has consistently produced quality manpower for Ogun State and the nation at large.
Prof. Kehinde made this known on Wednesday, during a Press Conference held as part of activities marking FUNAAB’s 33rd Convocation Ceremony, where he disclosed that a total of 4,141 students would be graduating across various academic programmes on Saturday.
The Vice-Chancellor described FUNAAB as a strategic partner in Ogun State’s development journey over the decades, noting that the University’s graduates have continued to play critical roles in agriculture, science, technology, education, industry and public service within the State and beyond.
According to him, since its establishment 38 years ago, FUNAAB has remained committed to its mandate of producing skilled, innovative and ethically grounded graduates capable of addressing local and global challenges.
He explained that the University’s academic programmes are deliberately designed to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills, entrepreneurship, research, innovation and community engagement.
The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that the calibre of graduates produced by FUNAAB reflects the confidence reposed in the University by government, parents, employers of labour and development partners, adding that many of the University’s alumni are today contributing significantly to Ogun State’s socio-economic growth.
He stressed that FUNAAB graduates are not only academically sound but are also solution-driven, self-reliant and globally competitive, attributes that align with Ogun State’s vision as it celebrates 50 years of progress and development.
Prof. Kehinde, however, expressed appreciation to members of the Press for their sustained support and partnership, assuring them that FUNAAB would continue to contribute meaningfully to Ogun State and national development through its core mandate of Teaching, Research and Community Service.
