Ogun Agric Commissioner To Deliver Achievers University’s Annual Public Lecture
ABEOKUTA – The Commissioner for Agriculture in Ogun State, Dr. Adeola Odedina will on Tuesday, 23rd May, 2023 deliver the annual lecture of Achievers University, Owo, Ondo state.
Odedina is expected to deliver a paper on the topic “Agricultural Development and Food Security in the 21st Century Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects”.
According to the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Omolola Irinoye, Odedina’s choice was considered due to his reputation as a seasoned academia, astute researcher, and his expertise as a practical agriculturist.
Prof. Irinoye said prominent Nigerians who have delivered the university’s annual lecture include a former INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, former Chief Justice of Gambia, Hon. Justice Emmanuel Fagbenle, Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.
Dr. Odedina is a former Provost, Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, Ondo state. His sterling performance and unprecedented achievements at the federal level, earned him a recall to Ogun state as a Rector, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.
His Midas touch at MAPOLY was noticed by the current Governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun which earned him another appointment as the Commissioner for Agriculture in the state.
Since his appointment in 2020, Ogun state cassava revolution and agricultural value-chain programmes in the state have become a model for many states in Nigeria including the Federal government.
