Ogun: Christ Gospel Mission Holds Christmas Carol, Preaches Peace Among Nigerians
ABEOKUTA – It was an awesome moment at the Christ Gospel Mission International, Abeokuta District 2 as Christians from different denominations uniquely celebrate Christ.
The programme featured Christian songs, bible study, drama, and worship songs – as Christians from different churches worship and celebrate the birth of Christ in their own languages.
The Carol Service themed “Born to Save” was held at the church auditorium in Liadi Opebiyi Street, Sabo, Abeokuta State.
In a welcome message, Music Director, Abeokuta 2, Deaconess Alabi Oluremi, urged Christians to be ready to abide by the commandments of God, refrain from sin and rededicate themselves in the service to God and humanity as the world celebrates this year’s Christmas.
“This is a season to obey God, honour and give him respect. If you honour God, he will also honor you,” she said.
The District pastor, Benjamin Alabi in his sermon urged Christians to follow the footsteps of Christ.
He said despite the socio-economic turbulence facing the nation, God should be praised at this time.
Pastor Alabi described the carol as a service of Christian worship traditionally celebrated on or near Christmas.
He said, “Christmas is not just a period of merriment but a time for sober reflection to turn around and embrace a new life through Jesus Christ, the saviour of the world,”
He called on Nigerians to trust in God to change situation of things in the country, saying if the virgins’ womb could conceive, there was nothing impossible for God to do.
Pastor Alabi urged Christians to spread love not only during the Yuletide, but throughout the year, and emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ as demonstrated in his humility and service to humanity.
In attendance are Divisional Overseer, Lagos/Ogun Revered Toyin Adeyemo, District 1 Pastor, Pastor Olaleye, Divisional Choir Director, Elder Ijaola S., Assistant Divisional Choir Director, Deaconess Olaleye Oladunni, Music Director, Abeokuta District 1, Sister Ekundayo Christiana, Evangelist Aina Wale, Revered Elijah Olojede, Evangelist Akinwunmi.
However, Revered Toyin Adeyemo hinged the period of Christmas on not just merriment but a time for sober reflection to turn around and embrace a new life through Jesus Christ, the saviour of the world.
