Ogun Govt Calls On Industries To Improve On CSR To Host Communities
ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State government has reiterated its call on industries operating in the State to contribute to the upliftment of their host communities through the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects in those communities.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola made the call during the inauguration of the Orile-Imo Primary Healthcare Centre, Orile-Imo, Obafemi Owode Local Government which was renovated by Apple and Pears Limited.
Aikulola who was represented by Director, Investment, Ms. Yemisi Folarin noted that the execution of different CSR projects by companies was important as no government could single-handedly provide all the amenities needed by citizens.
He added that, “government requires private sector support and participation not only for economic growth but also for community sustainability and development”.
Commending the management of Apple and Pears Limited for their commitment to community development Aikulola said the renovated project would help alleviate some challenges facing the health sector and also help improve the wellbeing of the people.
In his remarks, Group Managing Director, Mr. Baseel Jaafar who recounted the company’s peaceful experience in Kajola and other communities within the Sagamu Interchange axis said the manufacturing entity has been giving back to the host communities through various Corporate Responsibility Projects (CSR) which include the construction of a new Police Post at Kajola, sinking of borehole at Areke community and the daily feeding of school students within the axis among others.
Jafaar assured that the company would not relent at executing more projects which will be more beneficial turned for communities in the axis.
Speaking earlier, Asiwaju Olakunle Olukunle who represented the Orile-Imo Traditional Council, lauded the company for supporting communities within the axis calling on the organization not to relent in assisting them.
