Ogun LG Poll: ADP Chairmanship Candidate, Ayinla Egba Gets Alake’s Royal Blessing
ABEOKUTA – Ahead of the November 16, 2024 local government elections in Ogun State, the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has shower royal blessing on the ambition of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) Abeokuta South Local Government chairmanship candidate, Mr. Olalekan Soyinka popularly known as Ayinla Egba.
Oba Gbadebo gave the royal blessing on Monday, when ADP Chairmanship candidate paid an homage on the royal father at his Ake Palace ground.
The Alake prayed for the continued development of Abeokuta South Local Government, being the premier local government in Nigeria.
Earlier, Ayinla Egba assured to embark on massive construction and maintenance of all Trunk C roads in the local government.
Soyinka, who went down memory lane, said Abeokuta being the capital of Egba Nation in 1914, deserves more than what it was getting in the present local government administration.
He said, “So, my first priority when I emerge as the Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government is to embark on massive construction and maintenance of all Trunk C roads in the local government. By the end of our tenure, not all roads can be tarred but there willl be none that will not be motor-able.
“Our second priority is to equip the local government with all modern day farming equipments that will encourage people in our urban area to have interests in agriculture.
“We are going to encourage the formation Farmers’ Groups and have at least two farm settlements owned by the Council, in order to boost food production.
“There will be a committee set up to coordinate the distribution of all agricultural products coming from the Council farms and individuals that benefited from the LG’s agricultural interventions to the indigenes of Abeokuta South. The products will be sold to the people by the committee with the supports of Community Development Associations in various political wards. Abeokuta South foods will feed the people of the local government.
“Third priority is to create massive employment through the “Go Back To Farm Initiative” and we will make it compulsory for all contractors handling local government projects to prioritize employment of indigenes of Abeokuta South, as part of conditions for getting contracts from our Administration.”
