Ogun PDP Youth Leader Bows To Pressure, Tenders Resignation

ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Sunkanmi Oyejide has resigned from the party.
Oyejide’s resignation may not be unconnected to the long-time overtures of the close loyalists of Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi.
The Encounter News reports that, one of the loyalists of Senator Adeola, Damilola Ogunpola had announced publicly on social media about luring the former PDP Youths leader into APC.
Ogunpola commended Oyejide’s political sagacity and grassroots engagement which has over the years been under appreciated by the PDP.
He described Oyejide’s addition to Senator Yayi’s camp as instrumental and strategic.
In his resignation letter dated March 2, 2026, Oyejide described his 12 years sojourn in PDP as remarkable and fulfilling.
He thanked the party for believing in him to serve in various capacities.
“It has been a remarkable and fulfilling 12-year journey. I am sincerely grateful to the leadership of the party for the opportunity to serve in various capacities during my time in the PDP. The experience has shaped me politically and personally, and for that, I remain thankful.
“I understand that this decision may not sit well with everyone. To those who may feel disappointed, I humbly ask for your understanding. Decisions such as this are never taken lightly.
“While the future in politics is often uncertain, I remain confident in God, who holds the future. I trust that in the end, all things work together for good.
“At this point, I believe it is time for me to move on to the next phase of my journey.”
