Ogun SWAN Chairman Assures Of Better Planning, Organization For 2024 SWAN Security Cup
ABEOKUTA – The Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun State chapter, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji has assured participants at this year’s Security Cup of better organization and planning.
Ogunsiji spoke recently on Poly Radio Sports extra in Ilaro, Ogun state.
The SWAN boss explained that the football fiesta was organized to further solidify the already existing relationship among the security operatives in the state.
He said that, the game would sharpen the mental alertness of the security operatives in the state and improve their physical wellbeing.
Ogunsiji, however, disclosed that SWAN has begun preparation for the forth edition of the security cup in the state.
The Security cup is a football competition organized by the Ogun state chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for security agencies and safety officers in the state.
The SWAN boss maintained that, the competition became imperative following wave of crimes the security operatives were exposed to.
He assured that, the association would seek corporate sponsorship to make the tournament more elaborate and colourful.
“We are organizing this competition to appreciate our gallant officers for their bravery act. This competition is to further cement the existing relationship among security operatives and safety officers in the state.
“The first, second, and third editions are success stories. We have learnt our lessons and overcome the teething problems associated with organizing football competitions, but we are very positive that with the success recorded so far, we will get title sponsors this year and our partners will not disappoint us.
“We sincerely thank the CEO of Value Jet airline, Otunba Kunle Soname for his unflinching support every year, we are hopeful, we shall get good response this year too.
“It is part of our responsibility as sports writers to proffer solutions to daunting challenges confronting our sports sector and criticize the administrators where they have erred and commend them where they have performed well. Rather than criticizing all the time, we felt we should also come up with something unique.
“Also, it is also to appreciate our security agencies in the state for their bravery efforts in combating crime and criminality in the state. This is because, they sacrificed their time and lives to ensure we sleep with our two cycs closed, so, we decided to commend them by bringing them together to wine, dine and relax among themselves. This, we are doing to improve their mental and physical wellbeing,” Ogunsiji stressed.
