ABEOKUTA – The Ogun state police command has arraigned one Alo Oluwafemi Adekunle, a 56-year-old man, for allegedly impersonating the Ogun State Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Barr. Olaitan Olusegun.
The defendant was arraigned in a magistrate court sitting in Isabo area of Abeokuta on Wednesday.
The Encounter News reports that Alo, who has no fixed address, is facing a four-count charge of impersonation, fraud and Obtain Under Pretense to which he entered a not-guilty plea.
The police prosecutor, ASP Arowojolu Gbenga told the court that Alo was accused of falsely misrepresenting himself as the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of Ogun State to influence the release of a prison inmate on a death roll at Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 108 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
He added that the defendant committed the offences between 2023 and January 5, 2026, in the Abeokuta area of Ogun State.
The prosecutor further told the court that, the defendant under false pretense obtained the sum of N20million from one Mrs Grace Osho to influence the release of the Kirikiri death row inmate, Femi Osho thereby violating Section 419 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State 2006.
Similarly, the defendant was accused of fraudulently converted the sum of N13million, being the proceed from the sale of Hush Pure Water Factory, a property belonging to Mr. Femi Osho who is on a death roll in Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre, violating section 383(1)(2)(a)(b) and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State 2026.
According to the IPO, the stipulates one year for each count charge.
In her ruling, the presiding judge, Magistrate O.T Odubanjo set bail for the defendant at the sum N7.5million, requiring two reliable sureties of equal amount.
Odubanjo stipulated that one of the sureties must be a civil servant.
The case was adjourned to March 4 for further proceedings.
