OSOGBO – Two residents of Osun state, Musibau Adisa (55) and Busari Tajudeen (51), have been brought before the Magistrate Court in Osogbo on charges of stealing meters.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to three counts: conspiracy, theft, and fraud.
According to police prosecutor, Inspector Olayiwola Razak, the accused allegedly stole an IBEDC meter, numbered 45060226300, belonging to Ibrahim Semiu in the Arogunmosa area of Oke-Baale, Osogbo, in May 2024, and sold it.
They were also accused of fraudulently obtaining N80,000 from Adeniji Oluwakemi by pretending to sell her an IBEDC metre.
Razak noted that the charges violate Sections 516, 390(9), and 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun state, Nigeria, 2002.
The defence counsel, Kaisemobi Ngwoke, requested that the court grant bail on the most liberal terms.
Magistrate Adekanmi Adeyeba granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 each, with one surety required for each defendant.
The case has been adjourned to August 20, 2024, for a hearing.
