
ABEOKUTA – No fewer than 28 players have been selected for the final screening exercise scheduled for November 19 and 20, 2024 at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.
The screening exercise was part of the restructuring of the football club to return to elite football next season.
In Ijebu-Ode and Remo zones of the state, no fewer than 10 promising players were discovered which marked the start of a rigorous screening exercise held at Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.

The screening exercise moved to Yewa zone of Ogun State on Tuesday, with an additional eight players discovered after a series of drills and tactical sessions.
The screening exercise held at Ilaro Township Stadium witnessed 60 players who showcased their skills narrowed down to four defenders and four attackers.
In Abeokuta, more than 100 players turned out for the penultimate phase of the Gateway United pre-season trials held at Muda Lawal Stadium, Abeokuta, showcasing impressive talent and potential.
The final selection phase is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19, and Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Dipo Dina Stadium, where selected players from the four zones of the state will compete for a place on the team.
According to Biodun Odejimi, chairman of the preseason committee, the trials have revealed exceptional players. “Some of these players will look back on today with gratitude,” he stated.
“We applied merit in our selection, and our conscience is clear that we’ve chosen the best.”
This initiative, he said, aligns with the developmental vision of the sports commissioner in the state, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, who is committed to identifying, supporting, and empowering local talents to help them reach their full potential.
