ABEOKUTA – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday arrived Ogun state on a royal visit.
Tinubu landed at the Dipo Dina International stdaium, Ijebu-Ode about 10:19am in Nigerian Airforce chopper number 5N FG 2 in company of his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties and Media, Dele Alake.
The president was received by the Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and National APC leader, Aremo Olusegun Osoba.
Tinubu clad in royal blue Agbada regalia with wine signature cap, immediately inspected the guard of honour and headed straight to the palace of Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona for private discussion.
As at the time of this report, details of the discussion was unknown.
Security operatives denied journalists and other local media access to the inner compound of the Awujale palace.
However, sources closed to the Awujale palace said the closed-door meeting may not be unconnected with the rancour between the governor and a former governor of the state and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
Recall that, Governor Abiodun and Ex-Governor Daniel had been at loggerheads in the last two weeks.
But President Tinubu may use the visit to broker a truce between the two APC stalwarts.
Meanwhile, the presidential convoy will also visit the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo shortly after the Awujale visit.
