‘Prove Yourself Useful’, Soname Charges New Super Eagles Invitee, Sodiq Ismail

ABEOKUTA – The President, Remo Stars Football Club has charged the new Super Eagles invitee, Sodiq Ismail to justify his invitation to the national team by proving himself useful to the team.

Sodiq who plays for Remo Stars of Ikenne, Ogun State got his first Super Eagles call up and among the 23-man players invited by Coach Finidi George for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Squirrels of Benin Republic and Bafana Bafana of South of Africa.

Soname, urged the player to make meaningful impacts and contributions to the team which he described as the most important thing for him to do.

While reacting to the invitation of NPFL players to Eagles camp, the Bet9ja owner said the step would further encouraged the players in the league to put in their efforts.

“Well, it’s a good development, no doubt. It will further encourage the local ones to put in a bit more effort. It’s also an encouragement to know that all their efforts are not going unnoticed and people are looking at them, they are watching and they are good enough to be selected. So it’s a good encouragement for them.”

Speaking on Sodiq invitation, Soname averred, “Well, it’s of course a good news. In the first place, it is good news. But what is more important is for him to go there as a young kid to make his name, and make a meaningful contribution to the team because that’s the most important thing.

“So, he needs to go there, show whatever he has that he’s good enough, and put a lot of effort into it. So that people can see what he can do.”
