ABUJA – A real estate company, Wardiere Oakmount Developments, has petitioned the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) over the activities of a suspected landgrabber, Kabiru Simbabi.
The company in a petition by its Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Olukunle Ilori, dated 28th April, 2025, Simbabi was also accused to have allegedly use the service of the personnels of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to avert justice and to commit criminal acts.
The petition further reads, “We write with utmost respect to bring to your attention a grave matter involving one Mr. Kabiru Simbabi, a self-acclaimed landgrabber and known agent provocateur currently under multiple criminal complaints, who has repeatedly boasted both publicly and in private communications that he enjoys the protection and shielding of highly placed officials within the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
“It is imperative to state that we have no reason to believe that the leadership of your distinguished Corps would knowingly associate with or provide protection to a person engaging in brazen criminality.
“However, Mr. Simbabi’s consistent and open claims that the NSCDC shields him from arrest and prosecution warrant immediate investigation to preserve
the hard-earned integrity of the Corps”.
Simbabi was further accused to have on the 22nd April 2025 accompanied by armed thugs, unlawfully invaded the petitioner’s legally acquired property situated at Plot No. 1415 and Plot No. 1417, Kuje, Abuja, disrupted construction activities, destroyed materials, inflicted grievous injuries on workers with weapons, and threatened their lives.
“When summoned by the Nigeria Police Force (Kuje Division) on 23rd April 2025 to answer for his actions, he willfully refused to appear, instead boasting that “no police or any authority can touch me because NSCDC people are backing me.
“Through multiple recorded calls, Mr. Simbabi has threatened to kill me, destroy my investments, and continue his criminal acts unhindered, repeatedly invoking the NSCDC as his shield.
“Preliminary findings have further revealed that Mr. Simbabi has been unlawfully obtaining money from unsuspecting Nigerians on the basis of false ownership claims over lands, thus
committing acts of criminal impersonation and obtaining under false pretenses”, Ilori said
The petitioners however calls for the immediate inquiry into the allegations by the security agency, while calling for the arrest of the suspect, ensuring proper prosecution.
“That any officer found culpable of aiding or abetting this individual should be subjected to full disciplinary action and criminal prosecution”, the statement said
Meanwhile, when our reporter contacted Mr Kabiru Simbabi, he however denied any wrong doings, saying that he was at the site for inspection with his officers when he noticed some ‘illegal’ activities on his property.
“I went to challenged them to leave immediately. It was just an argument between the workers and my officers, with nobody being hurt. I was even the one that intervened later for them to be allowed to continue their work for the day but told them not to return the following day until every matter concerning the land is settled”, he said
He, however, said he is open for negotiations for amicable settlement, which according to him must be done with sincerity from all parties involved.
“I have challenged him to call the person that allegedly sold the land to him, so that we can talk. He cannot provide the person till now. He needs to know the real owner of the land.
“I owned the land and I have tried my best to bring amicable solution to all these impasse, but he insists on using different tactics because of his perceived connections in politics and media,” he said
