ABEOKUTA – Hon. Hammed Adeniyi Adebolu, popularly referred to as Sekere of Lagos, will perform the official kick-off of the 4th ValueJet/SWAN Security cup tomorrow.
Hon. Adebolu who is the guest of honour, will lead other dignitaries to MKO International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta for the kick of the encounter between the debutant, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Ogun State Fire Service.
Defending champions, Police Machines will begin the defence of their title when they trade tackles with familiar foes, Nigeria Customs Service team in opening Group A match of the fourth edition of Value Jet /Ogun SWAN Security Cup.
In Group B, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) side will do battle with former champions, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC team in the last group match on day-one of the competition at the same venue.
On Thursday, FRSC will clash with Police Machines on day-two of the competition in Group A while Customs boys take on Fire Service side in other match in the group.
Another debutants, Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) team and TRACE side will fight for the maximum three points in Group B match of the competition on same day.
The final group matches holding on Saturday, August 17 include FRSC and Customs Service teams, EFCC clashing with NSCDC while Police Machines take on Fire Service for a place in the semi-final of the annual football competition organized by Ogun State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) slated for August 20 while the final holds on 23rd of August, 2024 at the main bowl of the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Kuto Abeokuta.
