GNI’s Political Associates Endorse Tinubu’s Second Term, Commend Abiodun’s Infrastructure Drive

ABEOKUTA — A group of political associates and loyalists of the member representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Gboyega Isiaka have declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term bid while lauding the infrastructural achievements of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.

The endorsement emerged from a consultative meeting held Tuesday in Ilaro, bringing together stakeholders from Ipokia, Yewa South and Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Areas to deliberate on developments within the polity and matters of shared political interest.

The gathering, which featured politicians including Otunba Odewole Lukman, Hon. Odegbile Yusuf, Hon. Mojisola Ronke, Chief Ola Ere Yusuf and Alhaji Olawale Lateef produced a detailed communiqué outlining the group’s positions on federal and state governance, as well as the political future of their principal.

At the federal level, the stakeholders credited the Tinubu administration with steering the economy toward recovery, citing improved macroeconomic indicators and renewed investor confidence as evidence of progress. They expressed optimism that sustained policy implementation would yield enduring benefits for Nigerians.

Governor Abiodun received particular commendation for the commencement of commercial operations at the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, which the group described as a milestone with significant implications for economic growth.

The delegates projected that the facility would attract investment, generate employment and enhance Ogun State’s profile as a commercial destination.

The meeting also served as a platform to reaffirm confidence in Isiaka, who currently chairs the House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development.

The group praised his legislative performance, highlighting what they described as strategic foresight and technical competence in his legislative assignments. They characterized him as a leader possessing both integrity and capacity for greater leadership responsibilities.

However, the stakeholders adopted a measured approach regarding speculation surrounding the 2027 elections.

They clarified that no formal declaration has been made concerning any political office and reiterated that future political decisions would be guided exclusively by the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following extensive consultations with stakeholders.

The assembly pledged continued solidarity with Isiaka, describing their relationship as founded on shared values, mutual respect and collective commitment to Ogun State’s development.

Responding, Isiaka charged the delegation to return to their communities to deepen stakeholder engagement and build consensus around the group’s objectives within the framework of the APC.

The eight-point resolution adopted by the group stated in part:

“That this meeting acknowledges the tangible economic strides recorded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR since he assumed office, noting that the economy has taken a favourable turn, with visible improvements now evident across various sectors. The meeting also noted that continuity of the administration beyond 2027 will ensure consolidation of the socio-economic gains aforementioned.

“This meeting commends the impressive leadership of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, particularly for the commencement of commercial operations at the Gateway International Airport in Iperu. This milestone represents a transformational development with far-reaching multiplier effects on the economy of the Gateway State. The meeting noted that the infrastructure will catalyze investment, create employment opportunities and further position Ogun State as a premier destination for commerce and industry.

“This assembly reaffirms confidence in the person of Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) as a symbol of integrity and capacity. His performance as a first-time member of the House of Representatives demonstrates capacity and competence. The group recognizes him as a leader primed for greater responsibility in governance.

“While aware of ongoing public discourse around the 2027 elections, the meeting agreed that necessary consultations with party leadership and adherence to party processes will guide our decisions. At the appropriate time, our position will be clearly communicated.
