#OgunDecides2023: Showunmi Charges INEC To Measure Up

ABEOKUTA – A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Otunba Segun Showunmi has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other officials in charge of collation and transmission of results electronically to do their part in order to achieve a free and fair election.

Showunmi who commended the ongoing governorship and House of Assembly elections said both the accreditation and the voting process was “pretty smooth.”

He, however, said there’s so much the country could lose if the electoral process is flawed.

He also expressed hope that his party would emerge victorious at the end of the election.

Showunmi said “The accreditation has been pretty smooth and our people have turned out as much as they can.

“What we now be waiting for is to hope that the process as advertised and made known to us that things will be transmitted to the IREV and the portal in Abuja.

“The truth of the matter is that once election has been done at the polling units, people have their expectations on how it was conducted. At least, from what I can see, BVAS has worked and accreditation has worked.

“Now, we have done our part, let those who are responsible for counting of votes do their own part, and those who are responsible for transmitting the results also do their own part.

There’s so much to be lost if the integrity of an election process is destroyed. As far as I can see, so far, so good.”
