We’ll Resist Any Attempt To Unconstitutionally Frustrate Senator Daniel Out of APC, Daniel’s APC Loyalists Boast
ABEOKUTA – Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state and loyalists of former governor of the state and a senator representing Ogun East Senatorial district, Otunba Gbenga Daniel have insisted that any attempt by the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to victimize the former governor out of the party.
The party leaders from Ogun East Senatorial district dislcosed this on Tuesday at a press conference held at Asoludero Court, Sagamu.
Prominent leaders who spoke at the world press conference said the purported suspension of the former governor on Facebook was a joke taken too far.
They dismissed the purported suspension of the Senator representing the district, Otunba Gbenga Daniel on the ground that it lacked democratic process.
The APC leaders specifically accused the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration in the state of hijacking the functions of members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of Ogun State chapter of APC by appointing a strange “administrator” to sign the purported letter of suspension, rather than the party’s Publicity Secretary in the state.
Addressing a world press conference yesterday in Sagamu, media aide to Senator Daniel, Steve Oliyide faulted the suspension, describing the process as irregular and lacking in credibility.
Oliyide, who was flanked by nine (9) other party chieftains in the Senatorial district, which included: Gen. Olumuyiwa Okunowo (rtd), Comrade Niyi Osoba, Otunba (Dr.) Korede Okusanya, and Princess Ronke Oduneye all described the alleged suspension of Senator Daniel as “a joke taken too far and an insult to democratic processes.”
Speaking further at the Press conference, held at the Asoludero Court, Sagamu area of the state, Oliyide questioned both the authenticity and procedure of the purported action, stressing that it was unethical and illogical for such a serious announcement to be made on a personal Facebook page rather than through an official party channel.
He further criticised the circulation of an unsigned press statement allegedly issued on November 5, 2025, by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, claiming it was shared with the media without formal party authorization.
According to him, the statement that reiterated the so-called suspension was questionable since a separate letter dated October 3, 2025, had already been referenced without being publicly displayed or verified.
Oliyide questioned why the Daniel’s letter of suspension would be officially communicated to him by the Chief Press Secretary, who happened to be an appointee of the state governor that suddenly assumed the role of party spokesperson when the APC has duly elected State Executive Committee, including a state chairman and secretary, responsible for official communications.
He attributed the recent developments to early political manoeuvres ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly regarding contests within the Ogun East Senatorial District.
During an interactive session, head of the advisory legal team for Daniel movement, Prof. Yemi Oke, SAN said he had written to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of APC to request for the purported suspension letter of Senator Daniel and other official documents in response to the purported suspension.
Prof. Oke equally requested the APC NEC to provide the official copies of the purportedly written petition by members of Ward 4 or 12, Sagamu chapter of the APC against Senator Gbenga Daniel if any.
