2027: Group Vows To Deliver 100,000 Votes For Senator Yayi, Tinubu

ABEOKUTA — The YAYI Ni Wura Alliance Movement (Y.A.M.) has vowed to mobilise 100,000 votes across Ogun State for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group’s Director of Media and Publicity, Wasiu Adejumo disclosed on Thursday at a press conference held at the NUG press center Iwe Iroyin house, Oke Ilewo, Abeokut.

According to Adejumo, the group has members across the 236 ward of Ogun state, noting that Senator Yayi’s stewardship at the senate were evident at every nook and crannies of Ogun state.

He added that the group’s membership strength swell over 100,000 and are ready to deliver their votes for the APC governorship candidate.

Speaking on why he left Ogun central PDP senatorial candidate, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello for Senator Yayi, Adejumo explained that the Ogun West senator track record shows greater potential for the development of Ogun State.

He stressed further that Yayi’s intervention in the provision of bursary payment to indigent students, construction of classrooms, construction of roads, provision of pipe borne water, construction of health center, installation of solar lights, provision of transformer to urban and rural communities and empowerment for farmers and small scale business owners attracted him to join Senator Yayi camp.

The group also declared its support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Adejumo, said the alliance was formed by political supporters from different backgrounds who had decided to rally behind Adeola and Tinubu.

Adejumo said the movement’s membership cuts across former supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other political platforms, as well as members of the APC.

According to him, the members decided to unite under the Y.A.M. platform because of their conviction to support Adeola’s governorship ambition and Tinubu’s bid for a second term.

Adejumo said the alliance would deploy its grassroots network and community-based activities towards achieving the target.

He cited a medical outreach organised by the group at the State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, as part of its community engagement activities.

While acknowledging that the administration still faced challenges, Adejumo said the group believed some of the issues confronting the country were being addressed.

“We were initially on the side of the opposition party. Some of us from APC, PDP, some of us are from ADC.

“Because of the reason that we want to support Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI in Ogun State, and we want to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; that is the reason why we decided to come together,” he added.

Also speaking, the State Coordinator of the movement, Comrade Akeem Shodiya, said Y.A.M. had commenced plans to build a statewide grassroots mobilisation structure ahead of the elections.

Shodiya said the organisation would welcome supporters from other political platforms who shared its objectives.

He said the group’s immediate political objective was to mobilise 100,000 votes for Adeola and other APC candidates across Ogun State.

He also highlighted what he described as Senator Adeola’s legislative and constituency interventions, particularly during his tenure in the National Assembly.

He further expressed support for the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, citing infrastructure development and economic reforms as areas it believes should be sustained.

Shodiya said the group’s support would not be limited to Tinubu and Adeola, but would extend to APC candidates contesting elections across Ogun State.

“We have made our decision. We have chosen our direction, we are open to all, and we want everyone to support this movement.

“We support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and we support all APC candidates in Ogun State, from Senator YAYI; to Senator Shuaib Salisu, who is also seeking re-election for the seat of Senate in Ogun Central. We support Olumide Osoba; we support all APC candidates across the state,” Adejumo said.

The group also took a swipe at the opposition politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party figure, Peter Obi, while questioning some of their political positions and policy proposals.

The group coordinator said it would combine political mobilisation with community engagement and empowerment initiatives as it seeks to expand its presence across the three senatorial districts of Ogun State.

Kehinde Oluyooye of Ijebu North East; Comrade Moshood Ogundare, popularly known as Oyinbo Iyabo; Hon. Mrs Funke of Obafemi-Owode; Hon. Toyin Kajogbola of Abeokuta North; and Comrade Temitope Ajayi of Obailukan, among others.
