ABEOKUTA — Members of the Ogun State All Progressives Congress, APC, Core Progressive Forum on Wednesday, called for massive voters mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, among the series this year, brought together party faithful, community leaders, market women, artisans and other stakeholders under one roof to deliberate on the party’s direction in the state.
Declaring the theme of the gathering, the convener said the forum was convened to build consensus around the re-election of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, for the Ogun State governorship seat in 2027.
The meeting was chaired by Hon. Segun Williams, a two-term former member of the House of Representatives.
Addressing participants, Hon. Williams said the forum was not created to serve any faction or individual interest, but to strengthen the APC as a united platform anchored on progress, fairness and good ideology.
“This meeting is for all APC Core Progressive members across Ogun State. We are not here for any group. We are here for the party and for the people,” he said.
He urged members to go beyond rhetoric and focus on recruitment of committed voters at the grassroots.
“We want real voters as members. I implore everyone here to go back to your zones, wards and communities and begin the mobilisation now. The task ahead requires early preparation and unity,” Williams added.
Also speaking, Hon. Wasiu Shodipo, popularly known as Two-Much, thanked members for turning out in large numbers and charged them to sustain the momentum through continuous engagement.
“We must keep meeting, keep talking, and keep working until we get to our destination,” he said.
In his remarks, Hon. Dr. Ademolake described the APC as “a party of itura, a party for all its members.”
He called on those present to ensure their voter registration was up to date and to awaken dormant members at home.
He noted that leaders across the state’s three senatorial districts had been duly notified of the meeting and were in support of its objectives.
The meeting took a lively turn when Hon. Allen Taylor, a former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly and legislative Aid to Senate President, arrived to a rousing welcome with party solidarity songs.
He commended the gathering for its energy and urged members to embrace brotherhood within the party.
“We must work hard for the party in the next election. Let us be our brothers’ keepers and put the interest of APC first,” Taylor said.
Contributions were also made by several grassroots leaders who shared observations from their wards. Notable among them were Muyideen Sowemimo ward 2, Mrs. Muinat Olaleye, known as Iya-Kampala from Ward 4, Mr. Omolaja Akindele from Ward 15, Mrs. Alice Oladele from Ward 7, and Alhaji Akinyele Iskilu from Ward 2.
They raised issues bordering on voter education, inclusion of women and artisans, and the need for regular communication between the leadership and the base.
In closing, Hon. Dr. Ademolake and Hon. Segun Williams thanked members for their contributions and assured them that a new era of inclusive party administration was underway in the state.
“We must forge ahead together because the task ahead of us is enormous. With unity and early mobilisation, victory is sure for our party in 2027,” Williams said.
