ABEOKUTA – A former federal lawmaker representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon in the House of Representatives and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Hon. Kayode Oladele has intensified support for the governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi declaring that the state will not return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Oladele said the growing acceptance of Yayi across the three senatorial districts was a reflection of the people’s desire to sustain the progressive governance that has characterised Ogun State under successive APC administrations.
Addressing some members of the APC in Ogun State who had paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja, Oladele urged party members and supporters to rally behind the Ogun West senator, describing him as a tested, experienced and result-oriented leader with the capacity to consolidate on the achievements of the current administration.
According to him, Yayi’s track record in public service, legislative experience and contributions to grassroots development have endeared him to the people of Ogun State.
He maintained that the APC remained united and focused on ensuring victory in the 2027 governorship election, stressing that the party’s strength lies in its cohesion and commitment to the welfare of the people.
Oladele said attempts by opposition parties, particularly the PDP to regain political relevance in the state would fail, insisting that Ogun residents had embraced the APC’s progressive agenda and were determined to keep the state on the path of growth and development.
“The support Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi is receiving across Ogun State is unprecedented. The people recognise his capacity, competence and commitment to public service. They see in him a leader who can take Ogun State to greater heights,” he said.
He added, “Never again will Ogun State be ruled by the PDP. The people have experienced the benefits of progressive governance and are not prepared to return to the past. They are solidly behind the APC and its governorship candidate, Senator Adeola.”
Oladele further dismissed the chances of the PDP in Ogun State, arguing that the party lacked the political strength and credibility to mount any serious challenge to the APC.
According to him, it would be inconceivable for Ogun residents to entrust power to the PDP in the next governorship election, particularly given the party’s recent political fortunes.
“To even think that the PDP governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, hails from Iperu-Remo, the same hometown as the incumbent Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is absurd and leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Beyond that, the PDP has become nothing more than a glorified social club, having lost virtually all the attributes of a viable political party.
“The party has been deserted, it is desolate and it has no relevance in contemporary Nigerian politics. Anybody who genuinely loves Ogun State and, by extension, Nigeria, will not pray for the return of the PDP either at the state level or at the federal level,” Oladele stated.
Oladele also urged Ogun residents to support the second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the South-West geopolitical zone had every reason to give the President block votes in the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, President Tinubu has demonstrated bold and visionary leadership through reforms aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy and strengthening the foundations of sustainable development.
“The South-West has no reason not to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu block votes in the next presidential election. As a son of the region, he has continued to demonstrate commitment to the progress of Nigeria and the welfare of its citizens. We must reciprocate this by supporting his re-election bid,” Oladele said.
He called on party members and residents of Ogun State to mobilise support for both President Tinubu and Senator Adeola, stressing that their victories would guarantee continuity of progressive governance at the federal and state levels.
Oladele urged APC members to remain steadfast and united, noting that grassroots mobilisation, party discipline and internal cohesion would be critical to securing victory in future elections.
He expressed confidence that with the growing support base for the APC and Yayi across the state, the party would record resounding victories in both the presidential and governorship elections, assuring that the party remained committed to delivering greater development, prosperity and good governance to the people of Ogun State.
