2027: Senator Yayi’s Wife Mobilises Ogun Women, Calls For Ten Votes Per Woman

ABEOKUTA – Chief Mrs. Temitope Adeola Yayi, wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has called on women across the state to intensify grassroots mobilisation and political participation ahead of the forthcoming elections.

She urged every woman to mobilise at least ten eligible voters, stressing that women possess enormous electoral influence capable of determining the political direction and future of the state.

Mrs. Yayi made the call while speaking on Tuesday at the 2026 Ogun State Political Stakeholders’ Forum, themed “Stronger Together: Women Unite for Victory – One Woman, Ten Votes.”

She described women as a formidable democratic force, noting that their contributions to families, communities and societal development should be matched with active participation in political decision-making.

According to her, women must move beyond attending political gatherings to becoming informed and active participants in the democratic process.

She disclosed that Ogun State recorded 1,365,797 female registered voters out of 2,688,305 registered voters in 2023, representing 50.81 per cent of the total electorate.

She noted that the state’s voter population had increased to 3,037,981 registered voters, according to figures she attributed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), adding that the number of female voters was expected to rise.

She said the figures underscored the strategic importance of women in the state’s electoral landscape and the need to strengthen their political consciousness, mobilisation capacity and participation.

“One Woman, Ten Votes is a call to every woman to recognise the influence she possesses. Imagine the impact if every woman here commits to engaging ten other eligible voters, not by forcing their choices or dictating how they should vote, but by encouraging them to understand the issues, exercise their civic rights and participate peacefully in the democratic process,” she said.

Mrs. Yayi explained that women could influence political participation at the household and community levels by educating neighbours, encouraging young people to take an interest in governance and reminding eligible voters of the importance of their votes.

She added that the initiative should go beyond increasing attendance at political rallies to building informed participation, strengthening public trust and encouraging responsible electoral decisions.

The APC governorship candidate’s wife also called for unity among women, urging them not to allow personal disagreements, political rivalries and individual aspirations to undermine their collective strength.

She encouraged women to support one another, mentor younger women and create opportunities for emerging female leaders to contribute meaningfully to political development.

According to her, political engagement should be driven by mutual respect, peaceful participation and a shared commitment to the progress of Ogun State.

She maintained that the victory being pursued must be founded on organisation, commitment and responsible participation, adding that the ultimate measure of political success should be improved living conditions, stronger institutions and better opportunities for future generations.

Responding to demands raised by participants at the event, the wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, assured the women of the present administration’s commitment to empowering them through the Oko’Owo Dapo zero-interest credit scheme.

She urged the women to turn out en masse during the elections, mobilise voters in their respective communities and support the APC to ensure continuity of the developmental strides of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Coordinator of West2State Women’s wing, Olori Adebisi Olaotan, described the forum as more than a political gathering, saying it represented a renewed call for unity, collective strength and commitment towards a common political vision.

Olaotan said women were not merely supporters of political progress but important stakeholders, mobilisers, decision-makers and builders of electoral victories.

She noted that the theme of the forum reinforced the importance of women’s collective influence and their capacity to shape the political future of Ogun State.

“Every woman has a voice, every woman has influence, and every woman has a role to play in shaping the political future of Ogun State,” she said.

She urged participants to put aside their differences, strengthen their networks, build lasting relationships and remain committed to the ideals and aspirations of the APC.

Olaotan further charged the women to leave the gathering with renewed energy, a stronger sense of responsibility and a common determination to mobilise support and encourage wider participation in the democratic process.
