ASABA – In a thrilling display of determination and skill, rising amateur player Mubarak Balogun stunned spectators by defeating seasoned Nigerian table tennis star, Oyelekan Solomon in the Singles (Able) competition at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
Balogun, widely regarded as an underdog going into the match, displayed remarkable composure and resilience, as he overcame the popular and more experienced Solomon, winning two straight sets down, 11-7, 11-9 to seal his victory in one of the most talked-about matches of the tournament so far.
Fans applauded the young player’s courage and consistency, noting that his ability to rally under pressure and take advantage of crucial points made the difference.
The win has send Mubarak to the quarter-finals of the table-tennis to be played on Sunday.
