Segun Showunmi Installed Odofin Of Keesi Egbaland

ABEOKUTA – The Convener of the Alternative Movement, Otunba Segun Showunmi has been installed as Odofin of Keesi in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Odofin is the second ranking authority of the leadership cadre in Keesi land.

Installing Showunmi after performing the ritual rites, the Apena Keesi and Baagbimo of Egbaland, Chief Akanni Israel said the traditional title is a township chieftaincy exclusively for the Akinroku family where Showunmi hails from.

Apena Israel noted that Showunmi was made Odofin for his major contributions to the growth, socio -economic development and impactful leadership in Keesi and Ogun state.

Addressing journalists shortly after the conferment of the traditional title, the new Odofin Keesi, Chief Segun Showunmi thanked the elders and traditional rulers in Keesi and Egbaland by extension for honouring him with the title.

He said the title is not ceremonial but a challenge to further impact in the state at the grassroots level.

“If you are ask to transform a state and you are given an opportunity to start in your area, why don’t you use the transformation of your area to give them an idea of what it means to really transform a state and transform the country.

“So we know who we are in Keesi. We are the first to have a grammar school, Keesi Grammar school, the first to have a clinic and town hall in Egbaland. We are sure of who we are, and by the grace of God, will continue to add our own little to it. We will bring more to the table. We will look for all Keesi’s sons and daughters, and begin to get them interested in the development of the township”.
