ABEOKUTA – Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has strongly dismissed as fake and mischievous a circulating letter purportedly extracted from his most recent memoirs.
In a statement, yesterday, by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, the elder statesman urged the public to disregard the document entirely.
Obasanjo described the alleged excerpt as a fabrication designed to mislead Nigerians.
The former President used the opportunity to express gratitude to friends, well-wishers, and supporters for their birthday messages on his 89th birthday, which is on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
It would be recalled that the former President, as part of activities to mark his 89th birthday, had said he was targeting no fewer than 10,000 beneficiaries in Lagos suburbs.
Chief Executive Officer of Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, Dr. Olalekan Makinde, said that the Foundation targets beneficiaries from suburbs of Ikorodu and Alimosho local councils of the state.
