2027: Amosun Group Set To Unseat Afuape, Endorses ASA For Abeokuta South Reps Seat

ABEOKUTA – The leadership and members of the Abeokuta South Local Government chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the Senator Ibikunle Amosun (SIA) political structure have unanimously endorsed Engr. Abolore Sodrudeen Ayodeji (ASA) for the House of Representatives seat representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.
The endorsement was made during a meeting held on Friday in Itoko, Abeokuta, where leaders, excos and members of the party from the 15 wards constituting Abeokuta South Local Government spoke with one voice in support of Engr. Ayodeji’s aspiration.
At the same meeting, the group also declared its support for the reelection bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, reaffirming their loyalty to the party leadership at the national level.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Secretary of the Senator Amosun-led APC in Abeokuta South Local Government, Alhaji Lukman Adelaja, said the endorsement of Engr. Abolore Sodrudeen Ayodeji was the outcome of a series of strategic meetings with party stakeholders across the local government.
Alhaji Adelaja expressed confidence that the group stands a strong chance of presenting a consensus candidate for the APC in the forthcoming election, noting that unity within the structure remains a priority.
He further assured that the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led group would support all candidates presented by the APC in the elections, stressing that Senator Amosun has instructed members to remain loyal and work for the success of the party.
Also speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of Ward 2 and Chairman of all Chairmen, Chief Alonge, who spoke on behalf of all ward chairmen in the local government, said the endorsement signaled the readiness of party leaders at the grassroots to stand firmly behind ASA. He noted that the decision reflected their loyalty to Senator Ibikunle Amosun and the APC, adding that members were confident that their commitment to the political family would yield positive results.
In the same vein, the Chairmen of Ward 1 and Ward 6, Alhaji Kola Olumide and Mr. Nurudeen Ayobiojo hailed Engr. Abolore Sodrudeen Ayodeji for what they described as his doggedness, steadfastness, and sincerity of purpose. According to them, ASA joined and strengthened a political structure many had written off, yet remained resolute in rebuilding it.
They further noted that Abolore Sodrudeen Ayodeji has consistently deployed his personal resources toward the growth of the group, the local government and the party at large, expressing confidence that he possesses the capacity and commitment required to take up leadership responsibilities.
Also speaking on behalf of women in the local government, Mrs. Isiwat Adeyemi and Alhaja Balogun said women across Abeokuta South had unanimously agreed to support ASA. They explained that the endorsement was necessary because of his consistent support for both men and women within the party.
The women leaders added that ASA has remained accessible and supportive to party members at all levels while praying that his candidacy and eventual emergence would become a reality for the progress of Abeokuta South and the APC.
While officially declaring his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Engr. Ayodeji Sodrudeen Abolore (ASA) assured that if elected, there would be regular interaction with the people of the constituency, noting that such engagements must be regular because the needs of the people change over time.
“Representation must go beyond elections. There must be continuous engagement with the people because their needs evolve with time. If given the opportunity to serve, I will ensure there are regular interactions with constituents so that governance truly reflects the realities of the people of Abeokuta South,” he said.
“My love and admiration for Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and my passion for the progress of our people inspired my decision to step forward. I strongly believe that a new and more progressive Abeokuta South Federal Constituency is possible with collective effort and purposeful leadership,” he added.
A first-class graduate of Materials Science and Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, ASA also holds a Master’s degree with distinction from the University of Lagos in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
He spent 10 years working with Matrix Energy Limited before voluntarily leaving the company, saying the experience shaped his professional outlook and will help him bring private sector discipline into governance.
He is also the owner of Egba Patriots Football Club, a club he founded out of his passion for football and his desire to take young boys off the streets, curb social vices and provide Egbaland with a unified football team.
