Ogun 2027: Gov. Abiodun’s Aide, Ifekayode Akinbode Launches “IBO MOLEBI” Movement For Senator Yayi

ABEOKUTA — The 2027 governorship battle in Ogun State has assumed a new dimension in Abeokuta North Local Government Area as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Prince Ifekayode Akinbode, launched a grassroots political movement, “IBO MOLEBI,” in support of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

The political mobilisation, which attracted over 600 canvassers from 28 polling units in Ibara Orile/Onisasa Ward 16, was accompanied by the inauguration of 560 Yayi Ambassadors, signalling an aggressive push to build a formidable polling-unit structure for Adeola ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The launch drew a powerful gathering of APC leaders, including the Osi of Egbaland and APC chieftain, High Chief Bode Mustapha; Member of the House of Representatives representing Abeokuta North/Obafemi Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency, Hon. Olumide Osoba; and the APC Chairman in Abeokuta North, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde.

In his welcome remarks, Akinbode, who is also the APC Chairman of Oke Ogun Community, Abeokuta North, said the initiative was designed to take the Yayi campaign beyond political rallies and into the grassroots, with a focus on mobilising voters and consolidating support at the polling-unit level.

Akinbode, however, maintained that the 2027 contest must be won from the polling units.

He said the “IBO MOLEBI” movement would serve as a grassroots platform for coordinating supporters, strengthening voter mobilisation and ensuring that the APC’s political machinery remains active across the communities ahead of the election.

Akinbode, who expressed confidence in the APC’s strength in Abeokuta North, warned that the opposition would have a difficult battle to make significant inroads into the local government.

“I am a very strong party supporter, and I have been with the party for the last ten years. I actually had to bear the cat because this is my ward. I had to put it together to let them know that 2027 is a no-go area for the opposition,” he said.

He stressed further that, “We are going to win for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We are going to win for Yayi. We are going to win for all our candidates and across all the wards in Abeokuta North, from One to Sixteen.”

Akinbode also expressed optimism that the sustained mobilisation would deliver Adeola as the next governor of Ogun State, declaring that the Yayi campaign would emerge victorious when votes are counted in 2027.

“I can assure you that by 12 o’clock on the day of the election, Yayi will become governor, by the grace of God,” he declared.

Mustapha, while addressing the gathering, expressed confidence in the APC’s candidates and grassroots structure, describing the party’s candidates as performers capable of delivering on the expectations of the electorate.

He declared that the APC would record a decisive victory in Abeokuta North.

“All my candidates are performers, starting from Mr. President, to the Senator, and to the Carrying Lord, Jaiye. I have so much confidence in all our candidates.

“With that, I am very confident that we will win resoundingly in Abeokuta North Local Government. And I mean resoundingly.”

Mustapha also commended the local government party leadership for its coordination of APC activities, stressing the importance of a strong grassroots structure in delivering electoral victory.

The Abeokuta North APC Chairman, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde, charged the newly inaugurated ambassadors to close ranks and work relentlessly towards securing victory for the party in all 16 wards.

“My message to you is that they should come together ahead of the coming election and ensure that we win the election. The APC should win every ward, from Ward One to Ward Sixteen. That is my message to them,” she said.

Similarly, Hon. Olumide Osoba described grassroots party members as the “oxygen” of the APC, acknowledging their critical role in securing electoral victories for the party’s leaders and candidates.

“Let me first of all appreciate the party members. They are our oxygen. They are the ones who do all the groundwork,” Osoba said.

He assured party members of his continued commitment to their welfare and promised sustained engagement with the grassroots.
