ADP Chairmanship Candidate, Ayinla Egba Condemns Gruesome Murder Of APC Councillorship Candidate

ABEOKUTA – The Action Democratic Party (ADP) Chairmanship candidate for Abeokuta South Local Government, Chief Olalekan Alex Shoyinka, popularly known as Ayinla Egba, has condemned the killing of an All Progressives Congress (APC) Councillorship candidate in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
In a statement released today, Ayinla Egba expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, describing it as a barbaric act.
He called on law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to unmask the culprits and bring them to justice.
He also urged Governor Dapo Abiodun to intensify efforts to protect the citizens of Ogun State, especially the promising youths in Abeokuta South Local Government.
“This brutal killing is not only a devastating blow to the victim’s family and political associates but also a dangerous signal for the political atmosphere in Ogun State,” Ayinla Egba said.
“I condemn this barbaric act in its entirety and call on the authorities to carry out a thorough and swift investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. I sympathize with the family of Adeleke Adeyinka and pray that God grants them comfort during this difficult time.”
As the 2024 local government elections approach, Ayinla Egba appealed for calm and urged residents to remain vigilant.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining a secure environment for political participation in Ogun State.
“Political violence has no place in our state. We cannot afford to create a climate of fear for our youths and future leaders,” he added. “It is crucial to note that while the upcoming elections remain competitive, they must be fair, moral, and legal.”
Ayinla Egba also stressed the need for the Ogun State government to prioritize the safety and protection of citizens, particularly young people, who represent the future of the state.
He urged Governor Abiodun to intensify efforts to ensure the safety of residents, particularly those actively involved in politics and community development, regardless of political affiliation
He concluded by expressing his condolences to the family of the deceased and the APC community, calling for all political actors to work together to foster peace and unity in the state.
