Fulfil Your Pledge On Renovation Of Iwe-Irohin Press Centre, NUJ Begs Gov. Abiodun
ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has appealed to the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to fulfill his promise of renovating the press centre hall at the council’s Oke-Ilewo Secretariat, and construction of a modern event centre at Union’s permanent site.
The union also reminded him of promises made by allocating and releasing land for the first Ogun Journalists Estate as his administration plans for the 2024 fiscal year and the appointments of two of its members as Special Assistants.
This was stated in a communique issued at the end of the Union’s congress held on Thursday.
The congress, commended Governor Abiodun for being magnanimity in victory especially during the March 18th Governorship poll, tribunal sittings and eventual judgment.
In the development, the union expressed sadness over the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State after a protracted battle with prostate cancer.
The congress, therefore, condoled with Governor Abiodun on the sad incident, describing Arakunrin Akeredolu as a Fighter of Democracy.
The union charged members to conduct themselves as worthy professionals in carrying out their duties; it also demanded decent treatment of journalists in the course of discharging their lawful duty.
The union commended the immediate past Nigerian Ambassador to United Kingdom, Sarafa Tunji-Ishola, for his promise to build a new news room to be named after late Professor Lai Oso.
