Arabambi Lacks Pedigree, Integrity To Interface With Political Parties — IPAC Tells APC Campaign Council

ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has faulted the purported appointment of Comrade Abayomi Arabambi as Chairman of the Inter-Party Committee by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council in the state.

IPAC, while acknowledging the right of the APC Campaign Council to appoint individuals to committees within its campaign structure, said Arabambi lacked the “pedigree, integrity and locus” to interface with political parties on inter-party matters in Ogun State.

Recalled that the APC Campaign Council had reportedly appointed Arabambi to chair its Inter-Party Committee.

But IPAC in a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Dr. Abayomi Sanyaolu on Wednesday, the council said it was compelled to respond to the appointment because of concerns that Arabambi could allegedly exploit a purported relationship with IPAC to mislead or defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

The council further alleged that Arabambi had lost the credibility and credentials required to participate in or superintend inter-party affairs, particularly because, according to IPAC, he currently has no recognised political party affiliation.

IPAC also claimed that Arabambi was not listed on the website of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as either a national or state officer of any registered political party in Nigeria.

The council explained that its activities were regulated and monitored in collaboration with INEC, arguing that individuals who are not duly recognised within the established political-party framework should not present themselves as representatives of inter-party affairs.

IPAC, therefore, urged the Ogun State APC leadership to conduct what it described as a diligent background check on Arabambi before assigning him further public-facing responsibilities involving inter-party relations.

The council maintained that its position was intended to clarify its relationship with Arabambi and prevent what it described as possible misrepresentation of the organisation before political parties and members of the public.

“Ordinarily, IPAC would not have responded to an appointment made by the APC Campaign Council, if not for the concern that a person such as Arabambi may seek to exploit a non-existent relationship with the Inter-Party Advisory Council to mislead or defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

“While recognising the fact that the APC Campaign Council has the right to appoint anyone of its choice to any committee whatsoever, the Ogun State Chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) is using this medium to inform the APC leadership and the general public that Abayomi Arabambi lacks the pedigree, integrity, and locus to interface with political parties on behalf of Inter-Party affairs in Ogun State.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Ogun State Chapter of IPAC wishes to clarify that Abayomi Arabambi has lost the credibility and credentials required to discuss or superintend over Inter-Party affairs, particularly as he is currently without a recognised political party affiliation.

“As of today, Arabambi is not listed on the INEC website as a National or State Officer of any registered political party in Nigeria. The activities of the Inter-Party Advisory Council are regulated and monitored in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“Therefore, anyone who is not duly recognised within the established framework of political parties should not parade himself or perform duties purporting to represent Inter-Party affairs.”

However, when contacted to respond to the IPAC’s reaction, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi did not pick up our reporter’s call nor return the calls as at the time of filing this report.
