Bayo Adegboyega’s Appointment Signals New Era in Sports Communication, Ogun SWAN, NFF Executive

ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria and a member of the Executive Board of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi, have commended the National Sports Commission over the appointment of seasoned sports journalist and media strategist, Mr Bayo Adegboyega, as Consultant on New Media to the Director-General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade.

Until his new appointment Adegboyega is the Assistant Secretary of SWAN in Ogun State, Media Officer of the Ogun State Football Association and an employee of the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC).

In separate statements issued on Saturday, both bodies described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Adegboyega’s professionalism, competence, and commitment to the development of sports in Nigeria.

The Chairman of Ogun SWAN, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, in a statement signed by the association’s Secretary, Olusegun Folarin, congratulated Adegboyega on his appointment, expressing confidence that his vast experience and administrative expertise would contribute significantly to the realisation of the commission’s vision for the growth of sports across the country.

Ogunsiji said the appointment reflected the commitment of the National Sports Commission to placing capable and experienced individuals in strategic positions to drive meaningful reforms and sustainable development within the nation’s sports sector.

He noted that Adegboyega had consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and passion in every responsibility entrusted to him, qualities that had earned him respect among stakeholders within and outside the sports fraternity.

“The appointment of Bayo Adegboyega is a welcome development and a testament to his outstanding contributions to sports administration. We are confident that he will bring innovation, integrity, and excellence to his new office while supporting the National Sports Commission in achieving its mandate,” Ogunsiji stated.

Ogunsiji, meanwhile, assured the National Sports Commission of the continued support of Ogun SWAN in promoting policies and programmes aimed at enhancing sports development, encouraging youth participation, and projecting Nigeria positively on the global sporting stage.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Ogun State Football Association and Executive Board Member of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi, described the appointment as a fitting reward for Adegboyega’s years of dedication and remarkable contributions to sports journalism and media development in Nigeria.

Majekodunmi also praised the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, for appointing professionals with the requisite expertise and capacity to advance the commission’s agenda of repositioning Nigerian sports through effective communication and strategic stakeholder engagement.

According to him, Adegboyega has distinguished himself as a hardworking, innovative, and passionate sports journalist whose commitment to the promotion of Nigerian sports has earned him widespread recognition.

“Bayo Adegboyega has consistently demonstrated exceptional professionalism, dedication, and a deep understanding of sports communication.
