Children’s Day: Foundation Urges FG To Prioritize Children’s Welfare
ABEOKUTA – In its determined quest towards ensuring Nigerian Children have the best of life and care, the Federal government has been advised to place and prioritize children at the center of all its policies as it is crucial for the future of the nation.
This call was made by a group, Treasured Points of Light Foundation in collaboration with Rite Foods Limited and Child Protection Network during its Children’s Day Celebration for over 350 children in the slum area of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
Speaking to newsmen, the groups team Lead, Damilola Onebamhoin said the rise in inflation has led many children to do menial jobs and has resulted to the increasing number of out of school children.
She further stressed that if the children get the best of care, despite being from the slum, there future will be secured with the right policies.
Highlighting some of the challenges faced by children, the state coordinator Child Protection Network, Barr. Adedamola Lapite noted they include abuse, violence, and poverty.
He noted it has resulted in a significant number of out-of-school children.
He urged government to address these challenges and ensure that children are protected and provided with access to quality education.
