Constituents Demand Removal Of Ogun Lawmaker, Modupe Mujota Over 18 Months Abdication
ABEOKUTA – Constituency members of Abeokuta North State Constituency have demanded the immediate removal of Hon. Modupe Mujota over her disappearance from the legislative proceedings of Ogun State House of Assembly for close to two years.
Findings revealed that, Hon. Mujota abdicated her primary responsibility of lawmaking in Ogun state for the past 18months without official permission.
Further findings revealed that at every legislative business of Ogun Assembly, the clerk of the House has always appended “excused” on her name each time the Assembly seat.
Hon. Mujota, a former Commissioner for Education in Ogun State was elected to the hallowed chamber of the Ogun State House of Assembly on the platform of Allied Peoples Movement (APM), in 2019 but later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Some of her colleagues who confided in THE ENCOUNTER NEWS confirmed that, the radiant-looking lawmaker may have lost interest in Nigeria politics, hence, she relocated to the United States of America where she originally came from.
Findings revealed that, her monthly entitlements which included renumeration and constituency allowances are paid to her account regularly.
THE ENCOUNTER NEWS recalled that, Mujota’s candidature in the year 2019 was originally meant to score political goals between the former governor of Ogun state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun his political rivals which included Chief Olusegun Osoba, Senator Lekan Yayi and Prince Dapo Abiodun.
When THE ENCOUNTER NEWS visited her constituency office at Enu-gada, Lafenwa, Abeokuta, the apartment was left opened without any staff to attend to our reporter.
It was further observed that, the lawmaker was absent at the coronation ceremony of the new Olowu of Owu kingdom in Abeokuta North local government, Oba (Prof.) Saka Matemilola, a constituency she represent.
One of his constituency members in Oke-Sokori, Alhaji Lateef Anifowose expressed surprise over the sudden disappearance of the lawmaker which he said running to two years now.
He expressed surprise whether the Nigerian constitution permits such act of negligence and abdication for elective office holders.
He, however, appealed to the National Assembly to direct Ogun State House of Assembly service commission to halt further payment and further disbursement into Mujota’s account whom he described as a non-performing lawmaker.
Anifowose, therefore, called on ICPC and EFCC to immediately launch a probe into the account of Ogun State House of Assembly and query why an absentee lawmaker should continue to benefit from the Assembly’s treasury.
