PORT HARCOURT – A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded the paramount ruler of Risi Ohia-Emeriabali in Rebis Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Eze Cyprian Amadi-Worenwo for threatening the son of Justice Adolphus Enebeli (Retired).
Worenwu was said to have threatened Mr Sunday Gift Chinenem via a text message on March 28, 2023.
Our Correspondent learnt that the accused threatened to kill Gift Chinenem as well as the retired state high Court Justice, Adolphus Enebeli, who is currently the Chairman, of Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
The accused had threatened that he knew the residences of the retired Justice, as well as his son’s, adding that he would ensure the retired judge did not live to enjoy his retirement.
He threatened to kill the retired judge for refusing to deliver judgment in his favour in a chieftaincy matter between himself and one Christopher Wonodi, whose judgment was delivered on March 20, 2023.
Our correspondent reports that the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge as the trial Judge, Justice Emmanuel Obele refused an oral bail application by his counsel, A. S. Amadi which was opposed by the prosecution counsel, ASP Walter Ogwuipile.
Justice Obele thereafter adjourned to matter to July 29, 2024, for bail consideration, ordering that the accused be remanded at the Port Harcourt correctional centre till the next adjourned date.
