Don’t Allow Repeat Of Bakatari In Ogunmakin Village, 52 Village Heads Beg Gov. Abiodun, Alake
ABEOKUTA – Village Heads of 52 villages that made up of the Ogunmakin community have appealed to the Ogun State Government and Alake of Egbaland not to allow Ogunmakin community to go into extinction just as Bakatari, a border community in Ogun state was lost to Oyo State Government.
Ogunmakin, is a border community situated between Oyo and Ogun states boundary under Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Regent of Ogunmakin Kingdom, Chief Oke Oladipupo made this appeal on Thursday at a press conference on the crisis surrounding the vacant stool of Olu Ogunmakin.
Recalled that, offsprings of Ogunmakin family in Ogunmakin community in Obafemi-Owode local government area of Ogun State have alleged the kingmakers of plan to install a non-indigene as the next Olu Ogunmakin.
The Royal father of the community, Oba James Sodiya joined his ancestors in 2023, hence, the process of selecting a new traditional ruler commenced, with the Ogunmakin descendants claiming that it was the turn of their ruling house to produce a new monarch.
The descendants led by Saheed Ogunmakin and Alhaji Kazeem Ogunmakin alleged some forces of planning to install an Ibadan indigene, Ramoni Busari Jawesola as the next royal father.
Chief Oladipupo explained that, at no point was Ibadan indigene installed as Baale or a beaded king, calling on the Oke-Ona and Egba Alake Traditional Council to resist any attempt by usurpers to impose a non-indigene as the next Olu Ogunmakin.
The Regent accompanied by Baale Adeniyi village, Baale Omi-Elero-Ago, Baba Oloraja, Baale Imo-Lisa, representatives of the youths and market women noted that 52 villages that formed Ilupeju-Oja-Egbejoda-Ogunmakin should be responsible for the selection of the new Olu Ogunmakin not imposition by the Ikereku traditional council.
He emphasized that, Ogunmakin community was never under Ibadan or Oyo Traditional Council, alleging the Ikereku traditional council of planning to impose Ramoni Busari Jawesola of Ibadan extraction.
Also speaking, Chief Olutayo Pius Adewale noted that, the alleged impostor, Ramoni Busari Jawesola came around in 2010 during the selection process of late Oba James Gbenga Sodiya but was disqualified for ineligible as non-indigene.
He said both Jawesola’s parents are from Ibadan in Oluyole local government.
He said the 52 villages under Ogunmakin community have unanimously presented three candidates from Ladijo, Adeniyi and Ogunmakin villages.
The three candidates according to Chief Olutayo are; Seye Olaogun from Ladijo village, Sunday Akinwande from Adeniyi village and Saheed Ogunmakin from Ogunmakin community among which the rightful candidate to the throne will be chosen.
He said anybody chosen shall be presented to the Olu Obafe who would in turn present such candidate to the prescribed authority.
