Gov. Abiodun’s Aide, Tunde Delu Empowers 110 Youths With N3 million Cash Support

ABEOKUTA – Hon. Tunde Delu, the Senior Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor on Youth Development, on Tuesday empowered 110 youths in his Ward (Ward 13) of Abeokuta South Local Government Area with cash support totalling ₦3 million to support their educational, vocational and entrepreneurial pursuits.

The empowerment programme, benefited residents drawn from Igbore, Itori, Ago Oba and Ikanna communities, with beneficiaries comprising students, artisans, entrepreneurs and other young people seeking financial assistance to advance their respective ambitions.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Delu said the initiative was informed by his conviction that investing in young people was essential to community development, particularly in a local government where youths constitute a significant proportion of the population and contribute meaningfully to different sectors of society.

He noted that financial support, regardless of the amount, could make a considerable difference to individual beneficiaries and their households.

According to him, “When you empower a young person, you are not just helping that individual, you are also supporting an entire household. Every amount that goes to the youths can make a significant difference in their lives, help them pursue their ambitions and contribute to the well-being of their families.”

Hon. Delu, who reaffirmed his commitment to youth development, assured the beneficiaries that the initiative would not be a one off exercise, promising that more empowerment opportunities would be provided to support young people in the area.

The latest intervention is part of Hon. Delu’s community focused initiatives in Ward 13. A few weeks ago, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain donated ₦1 million to Community Development Committees (CDC’s), which comprise residents of Igbore, Itori, Ikanna and Ago Oba.

He has also facilitated the provision of boreholes at strategic locations across the ward to improve access to water and address the needs of residents.

Reacting on behalf of the 110 beneficiaries, Mr. Olaoluwa commended Hon. Delu for his philanthropy and commitment to the welfare of the people, expressing appreciation for the financial support.

Among dignitaries present at the event were Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President, Hon. Femi Allen Taylor, Hon. Adekunle Mujidat, a former councillor representing Ward 13, Hon. Monsuru Balogun, Organising Secretary of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN), and Hon. Alli Baba of the Abeokuta South Local Government Education Authority.

Youth representatives and other stakeholders from Igbore, Ikanna, Ago Oba and Itori were also in attendance.
