I’ll Be Number One Beneficiary Of Governor Abiodun’s Achievements – Senator Yayi

ABEOKUTA – The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has described Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration as one that is laying a solid foundation for Ogun State’s future development, declaring that his successor would benefit immensely from the governor’s achievements.

Senator Yayi said Ogun State was on the verge of becoming an oil-producing state, attributing the development to the efforts of Abiodun, while describing the proposed $7 billion Gateway Deep Sea Port as one of the administration’s landmark projects.

Senator Yayi who disclosed this on Thursday at Ikenne local government during his stakeholders engagement with community leaders said that the deep seaport, which is expected to be comparable to the Apapa Port in Lagos, would be located in Ogun Waterside and become operational by 2029.

According to him, the project, alongside other major infrastructure initiatives, would leave a lasting legacy that would be difficult for any succeeding administration to ignore.

“Dapo Abiodun is laying a foundation for me that no governor coming after me will not pray for. Ogun State is about to become an oil-producing state courtesy of Governor Abiodun.

“Just last week, a $7 billion deep seaport like that of Apapa Port in Lagos was signed by the governor to be sited in Ogun Waterside. By 2029, that port will become functional,” he said.

He acknowledged that no administration could accomplish everything within its tenure but maintained that Abiodun had performed creditably, adding that he would be a major beneficiary of the governor’s developmental strides.

The senator also called on the people of Ogun East Senatorial District to support Abiodun’s political ambition, insisting that the governor remained the most suitable candidate to represent the district at the Senate.

He argued that the people of the district should not entrust their representation to a stranger, particularly given Abiodun’s contributions to the development of the state and Ogun East.

On his governorship ambition, Senator Yayi appealed to the people of Ikenne and other communities in Remoland to reciprocate the political support previously extended to Abiodun by the Yewa people.

He recalled that the Yewa people supported Abiodun’s re-election bid in 2023, urging the Remo people to extend similar support to him in his quest to succeed the governor.

“The Yewas have never betrayed the Remo. We ensured that the governor won his second-term ticket, and he won. So, I am here today to solicit your support to reciprocate the gesture we have shown to Governor Abiodun by supporting me to become the next governor of Ogun State,” he said.

Yayi promised to address areas where the current administration might not have met the expectations of residents, assuring that his government would deliver inclusive governance.

The senator also dismissed allegations questioning his origin and connection to Ogun State, describing them as politically motivated attempts to undermine his ambition.

He urged the people of Ikenne to support his candidacy in the interest of unity and the continued development of the state, promising to sustain ongoing projects and build on the achievements of the Abiodun administration.

According to him, Ogun State is poised to witness a smooth transition of power for the first time, warning that a successor who does not understand the efforts and challenges behind the current administration’s achievements could undermine its progress.

Yayi further described himself as the first APC governorship aspirant in Nigeria to receive an announced governorship ticket ahead of a primary election, recalling that Abiodun declared him the party’s governorship candidate on April 14, 2026.

He pledged to bring energy and commitment to governance, promising an administration that would work for all residents of Ogun State.
