I’ll Make Ogun Oil Producing State Under My Watch – Senator Yayi

ABEOKUTA – The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, has pledged to position Ogun State among Nigeria’s oil-producing states through the exploration and development of the state’s oil assets at Tongeji Island.

Speaking during his ongoing consultative meetings with APC stakeholders and organized groups across Ogun State on Wednesday, Senator Adeola said unlocking the state’s oil potential would serve as a catalyst for accelerated economic growth, industrial expansion, and infrastructural development.

Addressing party leaders and stakeholders from Sagamu and Ikenne local governments, Senator Yayi expressed appreciation for the continued support of party members and residents of the state, while outlining a vision centered on economic transformation driven by strategic investments.

According to him, making Ogun an oil-producing state remains one of the key priorities of his administration if elected governor in 2027.

“We will fully explore the oil prospects at Tongeji Island and ensure Ogun becomes an oil-producing state,” he said.

The APC candidate explained that the development of the state’s oil resources, alongside the realization of the Olokola Deep Seaport project and the strategic advantages offered by the Gateway International Airport, would significantly boost government revenue, create employment opportunities, attract investors, and position Ogun as a leading economic hub in Nigeria.

“These projects have the potential to transform Ogun State and take our economy to the next level of growth and development. With oil production, a functional deep seaport, and a thriving airport corridor, Ogun will emerge as one of the most economically competitive states in the country,” he stated.

Beyond the oil and maritime sectors, the APC governorship candidate reaffirmed his commitment to expanding infrastructure, improving social services, and promoting inclusive governance.

“My vision is to build on the gains already recorded and make Ogun State a model of prosperity driven by effective governance and people-centered policies,” he added.

Former Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Daisi Akintan, commended Senator Yayi’s leadership credentials and expressed confidence in his ability to drive the state’s development agenda.

He urged party members to remain united and support the APC candidate’s vision for a more prosperous Ogun State.

The meeting was attended by notable party stakeholders, including Senator Lekan Mustapha, Dr. Adeleke Adedoyin, Hon. Funmi Efuwape, and Hon. Oresanya, among others, who pledged their support for Yayi’s candidacy and his economic development blueprint for Ogun State.
