International Gateway Trade Fair Will Drive Economic Growth, Create Employment – Ogun Govt

ABEOKUTA – The Ogun state Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela, , has disclosed that the 13th International Gateway Trade Fair 2024 would drive the economy of the state and create employment opportunities.

Sofela , who stated this at a news conference in Abeokuta on Thursday, said that the 13th Gateway International Trade Fair would take place from April 19 to April 29.

The commissioner, represented by the Special Adviser to Gov. Dapo Abiodun on Trade and Investment, Mrs Oluyemisi Somorin-Dawodu, noted that such events would enhance the competitiveness of local industries.

He said that the state government would leverage on the opportunity of the trade fair to showcase the rich diversity of its industries and highlight the state’s investment potential.

Sofela stated that the state governor had approved the donation of a two-bedroom flat to be won during the trade fair through raffle draws.

“We have spared no effort in ensuring that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure a seamless and fruitful experience for all participants.

“As part of our efforts to make the 13th Gateway Trade Fair 2024 a resounding success, we have made provision of free bus transportation from Kuto to the Trade Fair ground at Laderin and back to town.

“Introduction of an entertainment village, where participants and visitors to the fair can relax and enjoy their time with loved ones.

“Introduction of a daily raffle ticket draw, with consolidated prizes to be won on a daily basis.”

The commissioner emphasized that the state government was fully committed to providing a conducive environment for the success of the event.

He expressed gratitude to the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA), and all other partners and collaborators working tirelessly to bring the trade fair to fruition.

Earlier, Mr. Mike Akingbade, President OGUNCCIMA, noted that the trade fair remained an exhibition designed for industries to showcase their products and services with the aim of creating awareness and examining market trends and opportunities.

“Gateway International Trade Fair is a dynamic convergence of diverse industries, bringing together a wide array of exhibitors representing industry, trade, agriculture, and services.

“It is a veritable platform for fostering business exchange between local and international stakeholders.

“The Trade Fair is also geared towards connecting businesses and developing the state’s economy, job creation, and overall prosperity.”
