ABEOKUTA – Strong indications emerged on Thursday that Ogun state athletes might not participate at the 2nd edition of National Para Games tagged “Abuja 2023”.
Recall that, the Ogun state contingents failed to also participate at the maiden edition of the National Para Games in 2022 due to a lack of funds.
A source from the sports council told Journalists that the athletes are in the dark regarding their participation.
According to the anonymous source, the state government has not approved funds for the team’s participation.
“Up till now, we don’t know if we are going to Abuja for the games, we were told that Governor Dapo Abiodun is yet to approve fund for the state’s participation’
“While other contingents from other states are leaving for Abuja for the games, there are no plans on ground for team Ogun for the event”.
The National Para games tagged “Abuja 2023” is slated between 8th and 14th December, 2023 at the MKO National Stadium, Abuja.
