LG Poll: Ogun People Will Vote Against APC’s Extreme Hardship, Inflation Nov. 16 – Segun Showunmi
ABEOKUTA – The National Chairmanship aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Segun Showunmi has expressed confidence that, the people of Ogun state would vote against the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the forthcoming local government elections in the state for the hardship, high inflation of commodity and high rate of the exchange rate in the country.
Showunmi maintained that, the APC government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had inflicted excruciating poverty on the Nigerian masses, hence, does not deserve to be voted again at the grassroots level.
According to him, the people of Ogun state deserve a better alternative by voting PDP at the November 16, 2024 local government elections which will be a direct response to poor governance by the APC led administration in the state.
The outspoken PDP leader stated this at the weekend during the party’s State Congress held at the Abeokuta Sports Club.
He said the party is ready to participate in the council poll with the assurances that the state electoral body, OGSIEC would conduct a free and credible election.
He said, “It does not make sense that people will be living under this kind of excruciating poverty, extreme hardship, significant cost in price of food, inflation at a very high rate, the exchange rate so high and the cost of petrol going higher and higher and higher. And even now, we are told that even at this price, they are still claiming they want to remove subsidy, if the people do not take advantage of the local government election, to send a clear message to members of the APC, that enough is enough.
“I do not know what else we can do, but as for the PDP, we’ll be ready for that election. We will present good candidates. We will present candidates that live in their midst. We will present candidates that are kind to them. We will present candidates that are empathic to them, and we will present candidates that are willing to serve them.
“But until we go into the local government election and come back, you all are going to be the judge whether OGSIEC has the capability to run the local government election that will beat the minimum standard of credibility.”
