#NigeriaDecides2023: Isiaka Raises Alarm Over Shortfall Of Ballot Papers In Imeko Afon LG
AFON- The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Yewa North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka has raised alarm over alleged shortfall of ballot papers in various polling units across Imeko Afon Local government.
Isiaka made this known while addressing newsmen at his polling unit, Baptist Day Primary School in Imeko.
According to him, it is surprising that ballot papers meant for presidential and senatorial election in the council were completed, whereas that of the House of Reps, was incomplete.
He appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to swiftly produce the missing ballots, in order to safeguard the credibility of the election.
Isiaka also asked security agencies to do something about the anomaly, insisting that the shortfall of the ballot papers could threaten law and order in the local government.
He warned that noone must be disenfranchised on the account of the shortage of ballot papers.
He said “The number of ballot papers for House of Representatives in all the polling units in Imeko Afon LG so far is shorter than what we have for Presidency and Senate. If there’s any candidate that would pull out people for this election in this local government, it is me that is on the ballot.
“There is even a particular location where we have no ballot paper for House of Representatives election there.”
“In practically all the other locations, the number of ballot papers for House of Reps falls far shorter for what they have for Senate, and the one we have for Presidency. We have raised this. We have discussed it with INEC, SSS. I’ve called the Director of DSS and they said they are looking at it. But they should note that this cannot go without a solution.”
“There must not be one person that is on the line to vote in this local government in this election, that would not be allowed to vote, otherwise the process cannot be said to be credible.”
“If there’s one person who cannot vote on the ground of this insufficiency of ballot paper for House of Reps, then this process can’t be said to be credible. We have been on it all day and the situation has stayed the same.”
