Odugboro Family Of Makun Raises Alarm Over Alleged Threat To Kill Their Son Over Land Dispute

ABEOKUTA – Odugboro Family of Makun in Sagamu local government area of Ogun state has appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun and Ogun State House of Assembly to urgently intervene on the land dispute matter, resulting in the threat of life of a member of the family, Alh. Ashiru Azeez.

The family in a petition addressed to the Ogun state Governor, claimed that some thugs invaded Odugboro and Igbepa communities on March 28, 2024 allegedly with full backing of one Mr. Oluwole Ogunbayo and Yinka Oguntimehin who act as their legal counsel.

Recall that, earlier in the year, the family had protested against the activities of suspected land grabbers who had taken over their family land situated at Sagamu GRA extension.

But in the petition signed by the Olori Ebi of Odugboro family, Mr. Adegboyega Odunukan and family Secretary, Olanipe Tikare dated 20th June, 2024, the family accused Mr. Oluwole Ogunbayo who is the CEO of AMBA Properties and Barrister Oguntimehin of threatening to kill Mr. Ashiru Azeez who resisted to be connived by the duo.

The family explained that, on 13th of June, 2024 at about 4:30pm, Barr. Oguntimehin visited Alhaji Ashiru Azeez residence with armed thugs to allegedly threaten him from withdrawing from the land matter.

The petitioners alleged that, the duo of Oluwole Ogunbayo and Yinka Oguntimehin have made spirited effort in the last two months to get Alhaji Ashiru Azeez incarcerated on false charges, saying when they could not succeed, they wanted to kill him and his family.

They alleged that, the duo of Oluwole Ogunbayo had claimed ownership of their land and distributed it to some senior police officers who allegedly protected the thugs.

They, therefore, urged the security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and allow justice to prevail.

The petition reads: “We, the entire family of Odugboro wants your intervention to protect Alhaji Ashiru Azeez. It is on record armed thugs invaded Odugboro and Igbepa communities on the 28th of March, 2024 with the full backing of Mr Oluwole Ogunbayo (AMBA Properties) and Barrister Yinka Oguntimehin who act as their legal counsel.

“It is unheard of in the history of Yoruba land for a group of agbero boys to rise up and take over power from the elders of a Family. They went as far as installing a Baale of the community amongst themselves.

“The Family has been helpless because all effort to get the matter investigated has been roundedly thwarted by the duo of Oluwole Ogunbayo and Yinka Oguntimenin. The C.E.O of AMBA properties had claimed ownership of acres of land and distributed to senior police officers who had always given these boys cover against prosecution.

“That was why all effort by the Family in reporting, getting justice has been frustrated and fruitless so far.

“We had reported Mr Oluwole Ogunbayo to the Ewusi of Makun who summoned him, for over 6 weeks running yet he refused to honour the Royal Highness.

“The Family had written to the Attorney General’s office, the file treatment was stalled. The Family wrote a petition to the State task office on land grabbing, instead of honouring the invitation, Mr Oluwole refused to state his own side ofthe story, all he could do was to mount pressure on task officials through back door intervention of high rank police officers.

“The family organized a peaceful protest and in reaction to that, the duo of Oluwole Ogunbayo and Yinka Oguntimehin have been threatening the life and family of our son who resisted bribe offered by them.”

They continued, “Barrister Yinka Oguntimehin had threw caution into the wind by visiting Alhaji Ashiru Azeez residence with these armed boys on Thursday, 13th of June 2024 at 4:30pm.

“He went as far as crossing him on a busy road with words of threat.

“Let the world know the duo of Oluwole Ogunbayo and Barrister Yinka Oguntimehin made spirited effort in the last 2months to get Alhaji Ashiru Azeez incarcerated and prosecuted or false allegations and when they could not succeed they want him and his family line eliminated.

“They should be bold enough to face consequences of their illegalities not threatening the life our son who had chosen the path of honour and integrity.”

Meanwhile, efforts to get the duo of Oluwole Ogunbayo and Yinka Oguntimehin for their reactions, Proved futile as the petitioners could not provide their phone numbers.

However, THE ENCOUNTER NEWS shall be willing to publish their reactions when contacted.
