Ogun APC Fires Back At PDP Over Alleged Secret Meeting With INEC Officials

ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vehemently denied allegations by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding an alleged “clandestine meeting” between its governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi), and electoral officials, describing the claims as a “baseless tissue of lies.”
In a swift response issued in Abeokuta by the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the APC Campaign Council in Ogun State, High Chief Kayode Odunaro, the party dismissed the PDP’s Friday press release as a fictional script born out of impending electoral defeat and chronic paranoia.
The ruling party asserted that Senator Solomon Adeola remains fully focused on his legislative duties and open consultations with the good people of Ogun State regarding the 2027 governorship election, rather than imaginary backdoor deals.
The APC statement noted that the PDP’s resort to cheap blackmail, unsubstantiated rumours and cinematic descriptions like “exchanging bags” and “doing magic” clearly shows that the opposition has no viable campaign strategy for the 2027 general elections.
It stated, “We are not surprised by this latest hallucination from the PDP.
“It has become their standard operating procedure to cry wolf whenever they realize that the electorate has totally rejected them. Senator Solomon Adeola’s track record of performance, transparency, and public service speaks for itself. He does not need any ‘magic’ to win the hearts of Ogun voters; his numerous developmental projects and impactful representation are his credentials.”
Reaffirming its absolute commitment to free, fair, and credible elections, the APC challenged the PDP to produce verifiable evidence of the alleged nocturnal meeting or permanently keep quiet.
The party emphasised that it has always been a promoter of the rule of law and democratic ethos.
The statement further read, “Unlike the PDP, which has a historical pedigree of electoral manipulation, the APC believes in the power of the ballot box.
“We have unwavering faith in our electoral institutions and the security agencies. We welcome any beam of searchlight from anti-graft agencies, as our hands are clean and our campaigns are driven by performance, not inducements.”
The APC, therefore, urged the Ogun State electorate to disregard the opposition’s propaganda, which it described as a deliberate attempt to overheat the polity and cause unnecessary tension in a peaceful state.
“Ogun State voters are highly sophisticated. They cannot be deceived by lazy blackmail and nighttime fairy tales manufactured in the PDP secretariat. We advise the opposition to dust off its tattered umbrella, face its internal crises and attempt to present issue-based arguments instead of running away from an upcoming democratic contest through cheap defamation,” the statement added.
The ruling party concluded by assuring the citizens of Ogun State that Senator Adeola and the APC remain unshaken and fully prepared to subject themselves to the ultimate will of the people at the polling units in 2027.
