Ogun Police Nabs Notorious Political Thug In Possession Of Three Pistols, Two Live Cartridges

ABEOKUTA – A suspected political thug, Samuel Pelumi Seun was on arrested by the men of Nigeria Police in Ogun state in possession of three brand new pistols and two live cartridges.

According to an unconfirmed report, the suspect was arrested along Papalanto-Mokoloki area of Obafemi Owode local government area of Ogun state.

The suspect allegedly confessed that he was hired by APC member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Obafemi-Owode state constituency, Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode during the last general elections.

Reating to the allegation, Hon. Soneye Damilola denied any involvement with the suspect.

Speaking with THE ENCOUNTER NEWS on telephone interview, Hon. Soneye maintained that he won his re-election into the House of Assembly on March 18, 2023 without the use of thugs or violence.

He said the viral allegation linking him with the arrested suspect was the handiwork of his opposition.

He added that, as a lawmaker, he won’t in any way be a clog in the wheel of investigation by the police, urging the police to prosecute the suspect if found wanting after investigation.

He said, “To set the record straight, Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode is a law abiding citizen who for no reason will condone or encourage any form of crime and as such will encourage the Nigeria police force to be thorough in their investigation and prosecution processes.

“It is on record that Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode(SDK) won all his elections into the Ogun State House of Assembly by colossal margin without the use thugs or violence both in 2019 and the just concluded election of March 18th 2023 that saw him returned. It is also worthy of note that he has set a record as the first Honorable Member to be re- elected into the House of Assembly representing Obafemi Owode State constituency.

“This feat is unprecedented and it is expected that opposition will stop at nothing to fight for what they have not earned but we believe that nothing can be done against the truth but for the truth. As far as we can remember most (over 90%) of all our polling units in the just concluded election were without any form of violence. You will then wonder where this hardened liars got their facts from. It is worth noting that Ofada ward has about 126 polling units and only one (1) unit was cancelled for Over voting. So where did they see their coax and sham story from? Why do you want slander an honorable person with allegation of a crime he knows nothing about because of political gains.

“Well, we believe the allegation against Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode (SDK) and the postulations regarding the election were made up and that is why there is no face attached to the publication.

“We want the good people of Obafemi Owode state constituency to please disregard this press release as it is nothing but aimed at character assassination of a perfect gentleman and we want you to be expectant of more gains of democracy thirecord-settingng Second term.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the arrest of the suspect.

Oyeyemi, however, said once the police conclude their investigation, the public would be duly briefed.
