ABEOKUTA – The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun State Chapter, and the Ogun State Football Association (Ogun FA) have jointly joined the global sporting community in celebrating distinguished entrepreneur, philanthropist, and sports administrator, Hon. Kunle Soname, on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
In a separete goodwill messages, both bodies described the milestone as a celebration of a life marked by vision, excellence, and immense contributions to the development of sports, particularly football, in Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
According to the Ogun SWAN Chairman, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, Hon. Soname has consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment to sports growth through strategic investments and visionary leadership.
Ogunsiji said, as Chairman of Bet9ja and owner of Remo Stars Football Club, his efforts have significantly elevated the standard of Nigerian football while creating sustainable opportunities for young talents.
Ogun SWAN Chairman, Comrade Michael Azeez-Ogunsiji, in a statement issued in Abeokuta, acknowledged Hon. Soname’s remarkable contributions to grassroots sports development.
He noted that the establishment of world-class sporting facilities and continuous support for youth engagement reflect his dedication to national development.
He further appreciated Soname’s support for SWAN activities over the past four years, particularly the SWAN Security Cup, describing it as a turning point that has positively impacted security agencies’ participation in sports within the state.
Similarly, the Chairman of Ogun State Football Association, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi, commended the celebrant’s immense contributions to football development, noting that his investment in Remo Stars Football Club has not only put Ogun State firmly on the football map but also set a benchmark for private sector involvement in sports.
Majekodunmi described Hon. Kunle Soname has a visionary whose commitment to football development is both inspiring and commendable.
He said his legacy in youth empowerment and infrastructure development will continue to shape the future of Nigerian football,” Majekodunmi stated.
