Ogun West Professionals Inaugurate New Excos, Pledge Inclusive Leadership, Mobilisation For Senator Yayi

ABEOKUTA — In a landmark move towards ensuring that a Yewa/Awori indigene becomes the next governor of Ogun State, the Ogun West Professionals For Yayi on Thursday, held its maiden Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Inaugurated the new leadership for the group.

The Ogun West Professionals For Yayi, a group of technocrats which comprises academia, Media practitioners, legal luminaries, Accountants, Bankers, Engineers, and other professionals from various fields of human endeavors gathered in Abeokuta to push for the actualization of Ogun West for governor.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected President of the group, Dr. Morakinyo Oloyede, pledged to provide inclusive, consultative and quality leadership while mobilising professionals and residents of Ogun West for the political success of the forum’s principal, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

Oloyede described his victory as a collective achievement of members who shared the vision of the organisation.

He expressed appreciation to members for the confidence reposed in him, assuring them that his administration would regard the mandate as a responsibility to serve rather than a privilege to wield power.

The new president commended the Electoral Committee for what he described as its integrity, transparency and seamless digital conduct of the election, while also appreciating elders, leaders and other aspirants for contributing to the success of the electoral process.

He extended an olive branch to contestants who lost in the election, stressing that the outcome should not be interpreted as a rejection of their abilities.

According to him, the administration would create opportunities for all members to contribute their “treasure, time and talent” to the growth of the organisation.

Oloyede said the OGWPY had the potential to evolve into a state-wide professional platform capable of serving as a strategic partner to complement government efforts in governance and development.

He assured members that his presidency would operate an open-door policy where every member would have the opportunity to contribute ideas.

Oloyede also reaffirmed the group’s loyalty to Senator Adeola, describing the Ogun West lawmaker and governorship aspirant as the organisation’s principal, inspiration and symbol of transformational leadership.

He said the forum was committed to amplifying Adeola’s record of representation and supporting his vision for progressive governance.

Speaking on the political task ahead, Oloyede urged the newly elected executives to see the internal election as only the beginning, charging them to channel their energy towards achieving victory for their principal in the wider political contest.

He pledged that the new leadership would immediately activate its strategic plans, organise for impact, mobilise the people and contribute its quota towards delivering Ogun West and other senatorial districts for Yayi.

“Ours will be a presidency that listens and keeps an open door. No one will be too small to be heard, and no idea will be too small to be considered.

“To my elected colleagues, let us remember that the greater election lies ahead. Let us convert this internal victory into external victory for our principal.

“I promise not to disappoint you. Together, we will organise for impact, mobilise our people and contribute our quota towards delivering Ogun West and other districts for Yayi,” Oloyede said.

In her keynote address, the Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele urged all stakeholders involved in the Senator Solomon Adeola “Yayi” governorship project to close ranks, work together and confront emerging challenges head-on to ensure victory at the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

The Deputy Governor who was represented by a former House of Representatives member, representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Hon. Jimoh Olaifa described the Yayi project as a common cause that required the commitment and collective efforts of everyone involved.

She urged party members and supporters not to see challenges confronting the project as problems that could discourage them, but rather as opportunities to redouble their efforts and achieve the desired objective.

She stressed the need for stakeholders to work together, respect one another and recognise the different backgrounds and contributions of individuals within the political project.

The APC chieftain said the success of the Yayi project should be regarded as a collective responsibility, urging supporters to put aside personal differences and focus on the larger objective.

He expressed confidence that the challenges confronting the project were surmountable, maintaining that there was nothing that could not be achieved with unity, commitment and determination.

According to her, “If it is a problem, we run away from the problem.  But a challenge is a call, a clarion call on you to redouble your effort and confront the challenge head-on.There is nothing that is not achievable. I know we will achieve this,” he said.

He further described the Yayi project as a common project that concerns all stakeholders, urging everyone involved to remain committed and ensure that the collective objective is achieved.

Engr. Salako-Oyedele called for greater cooperation among party stakeholders as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
