Organize Football Talent Discovery In Local Council Areas, Ogun LG Chairman Tasks SWAN
ABEOKUTA – The Council Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ogun State Chapter, Ambassador Adeshina Ogunsola has called on Sports Writers Association Of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter to organize “Football Talent Discovery” in all local council areas of the State.
Ogunsola made the call on Friday after performing the ceremonial kick off of the third SWAN/Oluwalogbon Electronics Media Cup cup held at the 5-Aside turf of the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
He said the initiative would help in bringing all council chairmen together in supporting Governor Dapo Abiodun towards taking sports in the State to another level.
The Council Chairman said “I want to seize this opportunity to advise SWAN to partner with the local government chairmen to see how they can organize discovering talent hunt for our youths in the local government areas of the state so that all of us can come together as sports families in Ogun State to support our own amiable Governor, as we all know that Ogun State is hosting the next national sports festival which the sports Writers are very key stakeholders.
The LG boss also said it was good seeing sports journalists practicing what they preached and improves their physical and mental alertness.
He also urged the association to reciprocate such initiative to the local government areas in the state.
The Council chairman said, SWAN as a critical stakeholder has proven to be a good football administrator to organize befitting competition in the state.
“Sincerely, it is good to be here as well to witness this wonderful sports competition organized by the SWAN, Ogun State chapter. I commend the association for a job well done sincerely this will promote sports in Ogun State and local level as well.
“They have shown us that they are good at what they do. The majority of them criticize the athletes, but it’s good seeing them on the pitch sweating it out and proving to us they don’t just criticize, they also practice it.
“This will further bring unity among our journalists in the state for the growth and development of sports in Ogun State.
“You are more very important in that festival please extend this gesture to other local governments for them to also contribute and participate in full in the next edition so that it would be more collaborated with what we are witnessing today” he concluded
