PDP to APC: Stop Pressurizing Joju Fadairo To Return To Your Retrogression Party
ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifo Local Government Area of attempting to pressure respected community leader, Chief Joju Fadairo, into retracting his endorsement of PDP chieftain and governorship aspirant, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Afolabi Orekoya, the PDP alleged that members of the APC’s apex leadership in Ifo paid an unscheduled visit to Chief Fadairo’s residence following his public declaration of support for Adebutu on Monday.
The PDP claimed that the APC delegation sought clarification from the elder statesman regarding his endorsement and allegedly made efforts to persuade him to withdraw his support for the PDP leader.
Despite what the opposition party described as sustained pressure, Chief Fadairo reportedly remained resolute in his position.
According to the statement, the elder statesman repeatedly affirmed his support for Adebutu when questioned by the APC delegation.
The PDP further alleged that after several rounds of questioning, Chief Fadairo, who had become uncomfortable with the situation, responded by saying, “Take it the way you have seen it,” before the visitors eventually departed.
The opposition party submitted that the incident as evidence of growing anxiety within the APC over increasing support for Adebutu ahead of the 2027 political season.
“The APC should note that while they keep chasing small fries in the PDP, we are winning the big fishes from their party,” the statement read, suggesting that more prominent defections and endorsements from APC members could emerge in the coming months.
The PDP also criticized the ruling party’s leadership in Ogun State, accusing it of failing to address internal challenges and declining public confidence.
The party argued that many individuals within the APC were becoming disillusioned and were seeking alternative political platforms.
The statement concluded with an appeal to APC leaders to leave Chief Fadairo alone and focus on addressing what the PDP described as the growing challenges confronting their party.
