ABEOKUTA – Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has assured residents of Obafemi Owode Local Government Area that construction work on the Ofada-Owode Road and the Owode General Hospital project will commence next week.

Adeola also promised that construction work on Bisodun Road would commence before the end of November, assuring residents that the administration would give priority attention to infrastructural development in the area.

The senator gave the assurances while addressing stakeholders and residents of Obafemi Owode Local Government, where he outlined his achievements in office and his development agenda for Ogun State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

He said the strategic location of Obafemi Owode as a border local government with Lagos State placed it in a favourable position to attract massive infrastructural investments under his proposed nine-pillar ITESIWAJU Agenda.

“Under our administration, Ogun State’s development will receive adequate attention, particularly in border communities. We must compete with Lagos, and because of the strategic location of Obafemi Owode, emphasis will be placed on this local government.

“I want to assure you that this local government will not be left out in federal and state appointments,” he said.

Adeola further expressed support for the creation of Ofada as a separate local government out of the existing Obafemi Owode Local Government, noting that the initiative would bring governance closer to the people and accelerate development.

He said his administration’s performance would be measured by the successful implementation of the ITESIWAJU Agenda, adding that he was determined to transform the 20 local government areas of Ogun State into centres of development and prosperity.

The APC governorship candidate also disclosed that the proposed Border Town Development Authority would help accelerate development across border communities in the state.

On his legislative activities, Adeola said he had recorded significant achievements in less than one year at the National Assembly, where he serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations and Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence.

He disclosed that he had sponsored 15 bills and presented four motions that had been adopted as Senate resolutions, describing his legislative performance as part of his commitment to effective representation.

He particularly highlighted the passage and presidential assent to his bill upgrading the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, to a University of Technology, Ilaro, describing the development as a major boost to technological education in Ogun West.

The senator also disclosed that he had facilitated more than 900 infrastructure projects across Ogun State, including roads, school buildings, healthcare facilities, markets, ICT centres, police stations, town halls, solar-powered streetlights and electricity transformers.

According to him, 18 projects had been facilitated in Obafemi Owode, with five already completed and put to use, while others were at various stages of completion.

He listed some of the projects to include road construction, ultra-modern markets, primary healthcare centres, hospital buildings and blocks of 12 classrooms in different communities.

Adeola added that residents of the local government had also benefited from his scholarship and bursary programmes, skills acquisition and empowerment initiatives for women and youths, as well as financial grants to traders.

Speaking on his broader development agenda, the senator said his scholarship and bursary scheme had benefited about 10,000 indigent but brilliant students across Ogun State, with beneficiaries receiving between N100,000 and N200,000.

He also disclosed that more than 20,000 market men and women had received financial support ranging from N50,000 to N75,000 each under his empowerment initiatives.

On the performance of the Federal Government, Adeola commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the positive outcomes of the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in economic reforms, infrastructure, education and security.

He cited the reported improvement in the country’s foreign reserves, reduction in inflation, clearance of foreign exchange backlogs and the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) among the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

He also identified major federal infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Badagry-Sokoto Super Highway and the reconstruction of the Sagamu-Benin Expressway, as initiatives expected to benefit Ogun State.

Adeola commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his administration’s achievements under the ISEYA development agenda, particularly in road infrastructure, housing and economic development.

He cited the completion of over 1,700 kilometres of roads and 3,640 housing units across the state, as well as the development of the Gateway International Cargo Airport, the proposed $7 billion Gateway Deep Sea Port and inland dry ports in Ijebu-Ode and Abeokuta.

Adeola, who pledged to sustain effective representation until the expiration of his senatorial tenure in May 2027, said his nine-pillar ITESIWAJU Agenda would guide his administration if elected governor.

He urged residents to support the APC at the forthcoming elections, calling for massive votes for President Tinubu and other APC candidates in Ogun State.

He said the party was targeting two million votes for President Tinubu in Ogun State, expressing confidence that the APC would consolidate on the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The senator thanked the people for their continued support, promising that his proposed administration would build on the existing development foundation and deliver more dividends of democracy across the state.
