Senator Yayi’s Chief of Staff Takes Campaign To Comedy Show, Calls For Support For Creative Industry
ABEOKUTA – The political landscape in Ogun State is assuming a new dimension as political actors continue to devise innovative approaches to engage the electorate and mobilise support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a departure from conventional political engagements, the Chief of Staff and Media Adviser to the Ogun State APC governorship candidate, Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi, Chief Kayode Odunaro, has taken his advocacy beyond the traditional political space, using a comedy show to promote support for the state’s creative industry.
On Tuesday, Odunaro, the Osorun of Isaga Orile and Majeobaje Baaroyin of Ilaro-Yewa, demonstrated his support for emerging talents in the entertainment industry by purchasing 200 regular tickets for the “Laffta Chapter: Funny But True” comedy show, organised by young media entrepreneur and comedian, Joseph Dapreacher.
The comedy show is scheduled to hold on August 30, 2026, at the Marquee Hall, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta.
Odunaro said the gesture was aimed at supporting Dapreacher’s creativity and encouraging young talents within Ogun State’s growing creative industry.
He added that the gesture was also part of activities marking the 57th birthday celebration of Senator Yayi.
According to him, the 200 tickets would be made available to members of the public interested in attending the comedy show, while prospective beneficiaries would have the opportunity to win the tickets by answering simple questions about Senator Yayi on Family FM’s entertainment programme anchored by Dapreacher.
Odunaro, while encouraging other supporters of Senator Yayi to identify with the event, urged them to turn out en masse for the comedy show as a demonstration of their support for the creative industry and young talents in the state.
He stressed the need for sustained government and private-sector support for the creative sector, noting that the industry has the potential to create jobs, empower young people and contribute significantly to Ogun State’s socio-economic development.
The gesture, he said, underscored the importance of creating an enabling environment where young creatives could thrive and build sustainable careers from their talents.
